The race was founded by the legendary Robin Knox Johnson who was the first man to was the first man to perform a single-handed non-stop circumnavigation of the Earth.

The race runs every two to three years and the Clipper 07/08 is building up to start in September 2007 and will travel over 35,000 miles.
