Thorbjoern Schierup Leads Radial Youth World Championships 2007

After the third round of the 2007 Laser Radial Youth Worlds the current top three places can be determined after their worst races are discarded.
Male leader Thorbjoern Schierup of Denmark extended his lead with two wins that gave him an outstanding four first places after his worst second race of 4th was discarded. He leads Greek Ioannis Mitakis with 4, 1, 2, 2 on 9 points and Alex Mills-Barton of Great Britain 2, 4, 1, 2 also on 9 points after their worst races were discarded.
Overnight female leader, Anne Haeger USA 1, 1, 8, 9, held on to her shared lead with a consistent 8th and 9th now that she can drop her worst result. In spite of scoring the best result of the day of the top three, Tuula Tenkanen FIN 5, 12, 4, 1 drops to third three points behind the other joint leader, Susan Romero-Steensma ESP 2, 10, 5, 2.
In the first race of round 3, a strong current against the wind gave the sailors some good surfing waves. Annalise Murphy from Ireland adapted best to the conditions for her first win and was followed home by Cushla Hume-Merry of New Zealand to give them both their best result in the championship so far. Discarding their worst performance did not put them in the top three.
