Australian Sailing Team set to compete in the Olympic Test Event in Qingdao
A world class Australian Sailing Team AST are at Qingdao, 15th-23rd August, to compete at the sailing venue for the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
The AST consists of currently ranked world number one individuals, or teams, in Star, Tornado, 470 and Laser plus others in a team of 18 athletes.
Australian administrators David Kellett (ISF Vice President/Technical delegate), Phil Jones (Yachting Australia CEO), Michael Jones (AST Director), and Rob Brown (AST Programme Manager) are attending to check out the venue.
The Qingdao trial event is one year out from the 2008 Olympics so the attendees can experience the sailing conditions - hot, humid, prone to thunderstorms, lightning and the possibility of typhoons - and check out the venue facilities.
