West Coast Mega-Yachts San Diego Bay
Mega-Yachts 100′ and longer are being attracted to San Diego Bay because San Diego Port and local marine authorities are making a push to build the slips, docks and moorings to cater for the needs of mega-yacht owners.
Given that 45% of US mega-yacht owners live on the West Coast and the number is growing there is a need for mega-yacht facilities but there are few Ports from baja California to Vancouver on the West Coast able to handle yachts that size.
San Diego Port is one of the few West Coast Port Authorities that has done a local economy impact assessment on the expanding mega-yacht business and has decided to complete for that business.
Obviously there are far-sighted individuals in the San Diego Port authority if review is made of hundreds of millions of dollars that are brought into the local economy of Fort Lauderdale because they have built marinas and boatyards catering for mega-yachts.
