After a 25 Year Partnership Louis Vuitton has ended its Americas Cup Sponsorship
Louis Vuitton Cup Director Christine Belanger basically thinks the way Alingi does business sucks.
So Louis Vuitton is packing up their America’s Cup sponsorship and going home. It dislikes the way that Alingi has taken over the event and now feels the market that Alingi is building with the event does not fit Louis Vuittons exclusive luxury brand.
BMW Oracleâs Golden Gate Yacht Club have already protested at Alingi’s running of the 33rd Cup saying that Alingi have set things up in a way that strongly favors the defender.
Team New Zealand were much closer and made genuine progress this time. One feels if it wasn’t for a few hick ups they could have pushed Alingi even further.
Alingi has so far struggled to make friends and is seen as a bit of a usurper from most parties.
Louis Vuitton wanted the event to focus on attracting the super yachts of the super rich and the sponsor money used by Alingi has obviously spent without consideration of its main sponsorship.
